Iron Philips GC4566/80 Azur: review, specifications, pros/cons, reviews

The Philips GC4566/80 Azur steam iron is a smaller version of the popular GC4555/80 steam iron.Its key difference is the reduced dimensions (although the weight remained the same).

The design of the sole has also been slightly changed. Namely, the number of nozzles was reduced, and ceramic spraying was applied to the base itself (in the front). The power of the heating element itself has also been slightly increased, so that after switching on the iron is almost instantly ready for use, even if the maximum heating temperature is selected.

Overview of the functionality of the iron

Functions available to the user in the Philips GC4566/80 iron:

Distinctive features Philips GC4566/80

The main difference between Philips GC4566/80 is its reduced dimensions compared to other irons in the Azur series. Therefore, it is better suited for things with a lot of folds. And due to powerful heating, it is ideal for jeans and other tight clothes.

The power cable is connected through a swivel (moves only in a vertical plane). Doesn't interfere with work at all.It also has a special insulation that prevents tangling during storage.

The steam supply is continuously adjustable. The number of nozzles on the soleplate is sufficient to prevent the formation of drops, so that wet spots do not remain on the clothes during use.

Ceramic coating at the end of the sole improves glide. But at the same time, it does not stick to synthetics (the density of nozzles is specially increased there). Although the reviews note the opposite, this is only true for those cases if you turn on the maximum heating of the sole. And when ironing synthetics, you need to set the minimum temperature!

The outsole technology is SteamGlide Advanced. Guarantees no creases even at low temperatures. And practically does not require maintenance, even after frequent ironing of synthetic items.

Pros and cons of the model

The Philips GC4566/80 iron is no less popular than other models in the Azur line, so there are a lot of reviews about it on thematic forums. The main advantages indicated by the buyers themselves:

  • drip protection works great (Philips has recognized it as one of the best among all irons, not only this manufacturer);
  • convenient water tank filling system;
  • powerful steam boost;
  • can be used for vertical steaming (only without lowering the iron, that is, without placing it horizontally);
  • the power cable does not interfere, does not get tangled during operation.

There are also disadvantages, although they cannot be called significant:

  • a small water tank, with vertical steaming it is often necessary to fill;
  • the spout with ceramic coating periodically nevertheless sticks to synthetics, so it often has to be cleaned;
  • no self cleaning.

Customer Reviews

Since the iron is one of the best-selling Philips (in the Azur line), there are more than enough reviews about it on thematic sites. Most of them are positive. There are only comments to the fact that sometimes when using a constant supply of steam and a low heating temperature of the sole, drops are still formed.

I chose the Philips GC4566/80, as I initially liked it visually. At the same time, it is not very expensive. It heats up very quickly. The steam supply works properly, but very quickly the water runs out in the tank that needs to be refilled. The iron itself is light, does not burn anything, does not stick during ironing. With his help, she also tidied up the wedding dress after the washing machine. Everything went well, so to speak. In general, inexpensive, but a very good iron.

All in all, the Philips GC4566/80 is a great option for those who don't like the GC4555 because of its size. They have the same weight, almost the same functionality. But this sole has a narrower and smaller area, so ironing small things is more comfortable.
