How to set up the Rostelecom remote control to the TV: connection, configuration and encoding methods

1Rostelecom is a universal provider in the Russian Federation. Provides access not only to the Internet, but also to TV.

And to connect to the latter, a special TV set-top box is used. It comes with a special control panel.

And it can be easily configured to control the TV itself and other home appliances. Because such remotes are customizable, codes for almost all common TV models are “sewn” into their memory.

How to set it up? And what does the user need to know about the revisions of the remote control from the Rostelecom set-top box?

What buttons are on the remote

The universal remote control from Rostelecom (including the new model - Wink) has the following buttons:

  1. TV. A button that switches the remote control from the set-top box to the TV. That is, by default, it can be used immediately for devices.
  2. POWER. Turning on the set-top box (or putting it into "sleep" mode) and the TV itself (depending on which device control is selected right now).
  3. A.V. Switches signal sources when the remote controls the TV. By default, the antenna input is used, with a single press, the source selection menu (switching inputs) appears.
  4. MENU. A button that brings up a menu.
  5. CH. There are 2 buttons (labeled + and -). Allows you to switch to the next or previous channel in the current list.
  6. Vol. Also 2 buttons (labeled + and -). Allows you to increase or decrease the current volume on the set-top box and the TV itself. If HDMI CEC is used, the volume is adjusted simultaneously on two devices.
  7. Back (shortcut with corresponding arrow).Return to the previous page of the settings menu.
  8. PiP. Enable picture-in-picture mode.

In total, there are 30 buttons on the remote control.

In addition to the above keys, there is a digital block, as well as a navigation panel (4 arrows for moving through the menu and a confirmation button). And this is true for remotes of all revisions.

There are also buttons for navigating teletext. And it is they, by the way, that can be configured to control third-party equipment. Since almost no one uses them (teletext is completely absent in most TV channels).

How to manually set up the remote

It’s worth starting with the fact that in total 3 revisions of the remote control for the Rostelecom set-top box were released:

  1. 1st. All designations and signatures on the remote are in blue. Does not support key programming mode. That is, it has a built-in set of codes to control only common TV models. Therefore, it is not compatible with all TVs.
  2. 2nd. All designations and signatures on the remote control are made in purple. Has the same keys as the 1st revision. But in addition to this, it supports reprogramming, copying signals from any other remote control.
  3. 3rd. All designations and signatures are in orange. The functionality is fully consistent with the 2nd revision. The only difference is the addition of an internal battery to save settings. That is, if you remove the batteries, then the settings of all the entered signals are saved. In the remote control of the 2nd revision, all parameters were then reset to factory values. And the setup after removing the batteries had to be done again.
IMPORTANT! Rostelecom remotes from third-party manufacturers are still found in stores.It is not recommended to buy them, as they do not support programming mode. That is, they can only be used to control the TV set-top box itself.

How to set up

The basic setting of the console of any revision is performed in a similar way.

Would need:

  1. Insert batteries. Press 2 keys simultaneously: Power and OK. You need to hold them for about 5 - 10 seconds until the indicator light comes on.
  2. Release 2 buttons. Immediately enter 4 digits indicating the encoding of the TV with which the remote control is synchronized.
  3. Press OK. This must be done within 3 seconds after entering the numerical combination. Otherwise, the console will automatically reboot and enter the standard mode of operation.

If everything is done the rule, then after pressing the "TV" button on the remote control, it will switch to controlling the TV.

To check, just press VOL- or CH- several times. Accordingly, the volume on the TV should decrease or the previous channel should turn on.

Copy signals from original remote to TV

It is possible that you will not be able to set up by entering the numeric code of the remote control. In this case, the only way to use it is to use the signal copy mode.

IMPORTANT! For this setting option, you will definitely need the original remote control from the TV. And in working order. Since it is from it that the commands will be copied.

To copy an arbitrary signal from the original remote control, you need:

  1. On the Rostelecom remote control (remote control 1), press and hold the CH + and VOL + buttons at the same time. Hold until the indicator light blinks.
  2. On the original TV remote control (remote 2), select the button whose signal you want to copy. Point its infrared transmitter at the remote sensor 1.Press that same key.
  3. At this moment, the indicator light on the remote control 1 should blink again. This indicates that the signal was read successfully. The remote control is switched to the copied signal assignment mode.
  4. On remote control 1, press the button to which you want to set the just copied signal.
  5. On remote control 2, point the infrared sensor at remote control 1 again, press the button you want to copy. Next, on the remote control 1, press the key on which the copied signal needs to be set. And so repeat until the user assigns all the keys he needs.
  6. Next - do not press any buttons on the remote control 1 for 20 - 30 seconds. It will automatically reboot, the standard operating mode will be activated.
REFERENCE! Thus, absolutely any signal from the infrared sensor can be copied to the Rostelecom remote control. That is, it will allow you to control, for example, an air conditioner, a multimedia center, any other equipment with an infrared sensor for connecting a remote control.

How to reset

If the user entered the wrong code by mistake, or the remote control simply started to work incorrectly, then before setting it up again, you need to reset the parameters to the factory default.

You can do this in two ways:

  1. For consoles of the 1st and 2nd revisions. Simply remove the batteries, wait 5 - 10 seconds, install them in place. All parameters will be reset to zero, all copied commands will also be deleted.
  2. For consoles of the 3rd revision. If you simply remove the batteries and install them back, then all settings will be saved. Therefore, you need to put the remote control into programming mode. That is, press the TV and OK buttons simultaneously and hold them for 5 to 10 seconds until the indicator light blinks.Next, enter the code 977 and click OK again. The remote control will automatically turn off after that, turn on, blink the indicator light 2 times. This means that its settings have been reset to the factory state.

Codes for different TV models

Each TV manufacturer uses 1 - 3 sets of codes for all their TV models, regardless of what year they were released. Accordingly, to configure the remote control, you just need to know this very code.

For popular TV models, the following are used:

  • Sony - 1825;
  • Bravio-2676;
  • Toshiba - 1508;
  • Philips - 0556;
  • Panasonic - 1636;
  • DEXP - 2807;
  • HiSense-0170;
  • LG - 1840 or 0556;
  • Xiaomi - 0634;
  • Samsung - 2051 or 0587.

Also, to the instruction itself, which comes with the TV set-top box from Rostelecom, there is a detailed table with a list of all codes for compatible TVs. You should also try to enter them (if after entering the above no changes have occurred).

Setting for Smart TV

Synchronizing the remote control with Smart TV is done in the same way. That is, you need to transfer the remote control to the programming mode, enter the code of the original remote control. Or use copy mode.

You also need to consider that some manufacturers are already producing TVs in which there is no infrared sensor at all. And with such a TV remote control from Rostelecom, it will not work in any way.

Alternatively, you can consider using your smartphone as a remote control for Smart TV. Samsung, LG, Xiaomi have similar applications.

You just need to first synchronize the TV and smartphone (detailed instructions on this subject are indicated in the instructions for the TV itself).

What to do if there is a conflict of remotes

This often occurs if the user has another set-top box installed. For example, Xiaomi Mi Box running Android TV.

In the first versions of this gadget, it was possible to connect an infrared remote control (later it was abandoned in favor of Bluetooth remotes). And it is quite possible that when you press a button on the Rostelecom remote control, the command will simultaneously be sent to this set-top box and to another TV-Box.

You can fix this, since the remote control from Rostelecom has 3 built-in sets of signals, each of which is compatible with this set-top box. Accordingly, if a conflict arises with one set, then it is enough to simply switch to another.

This is done as follows:

  1. Press 2 keys simultaneously: Power and OK. Hold for 5 to 10 seconds until the indicator light blinks.
  2. Enter quickly 4 numbers: 3221, press OK.
  3. Check if the remote control conflict has been resolved.
  4. If not, then repeat the procedure, but use the code 3222, 3223, 3224 (optional).

Also, the corresponding parameters can be set directly through the settings of the set-top box itself. This is done in the System Preferences section.

You need to select the "Reprogram" item, and then just follow the prompts that are shown on the screen.

In total, the Rostelecom remote control that comes with the set-top box (it can be purchased separately without any problems) is really universal. And from it you can control the TV (and any other household appliances that have an infrared receiver).

And it is recommended to buy the remote control of the 3rd revision, as it supports the widest range of TV signals. It also saves settings when the batteries are removed.It only needs to be set up once. The built-in battery for saving the parameters is designed for 3-5 years of use.
